Saibu Gas Co., Ltd. (“Saibu Gas”), in collaboration with MOL Techno-Trade, Ltd. (“MOL Tech”), provided an LNG bunkering service on April 3 to the luxury cruise ship “Luminara,” operated by The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection, while the ship was calling at Nagasaki Port.

The service was carried out using the Truck-to-Ship method, whereby LNG is supplied directly from LNG tank trucks to the ship.
This marks the first time in Japan that LNG bunkering has been conducted for an international cruise ship using the Truck-to-Ship method.
In this project, Saibu Gas led LNG procurement and the overall bunkering operation, while MOL Tech was responsible for commercial arrangements related to the fuel supply. Through close collaboration, the two companies jointly provided LNG bunkering services to The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection.

Saibu Gas has previously conducted LNG bunkering operations for various ships, including the domestic cruise line and PCC, at major ports in Northern Kyushu, Japan. Amid increasingly stringent international environmental regulations, the number of cruise ships fueled by LNG is expected to continue increasing.

By leveraging a flexible LNG supply system based on LNG tank trucks, Saibu Gas has established a bunkering framework capable of serving international cruise ships. This initiative demonstrates that Saibu Gas’s LNG bunkering services can support international cruise ships across multiple ports, contributing to the future growth of international cruise demand in Japan.

Saibu Gas, together with its partners including MOL Tech, will continue to provide safe, reliable LNG bunkering services and contribute to the decarbonization of the maritime sector and the revitalization of regional ports.
