Saibu Gas Co., Ltd. ( “Saibu Gas”) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Zhangjiagang Furui Special Equipment Co., Ltd. (“FURUI”) regarding the joint development and use of ISO tank containers*1 that comply with Japanese regulations. This marks the first time that Saibu Gas has jointly developed ISO tank containers compliant with Japanese regulations with another company.

Saibu Gas has been promoting LNG re-export operations to China and domestic LNG bunkering using ISO tank containers. These containers can be transported via various modes such as marine vessels, railcars, and trucks. ISO tank containers have approximately 30% greater capacity than conventional LNG tanker trucks and offer superior thermal insulation, enabling them to storage of ultra-low-temperature LNG for up to 60 days. These features allow for more efficient LNG transportation.

By leveraging these advantages, Saibu Gas will collaborate with FURUI to develop ISO tank containers suitable for domestic use in Japan, aiming to improve LNG transportation efficiency and expand LNG demand across wider areas. In addition, both companies will explore the potential for broader adoption of these containers within Japan.

The Saibu Gas Group is committed to reducing carbon emissions through a shift to natural gas under its “Saibu Gas Group Carbon Neutral 2050” initiative*2. Going forward, the Group will continue to steadily implement initiatives toward achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, thereby contributing to the sustainable development of customers and local communities.
